FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. How does BY YOUR SIDE assist us with understanding and billing of insurance?
Please click here for an outline of how we work with you and your insurance.
Q. Will the therapy services provided by your center be covered by insurance?
Yes, speech and language services are covered by most insurance companies. Each insurance company has its own requirements for referrals, deductibles and co-pays. BYS staff will help you to better understand your policy benefits and eligibility requirements. However, you will ultimately need to contact your insurance company to confirm and validate information prior to beginning therapy.
Q. What if my insurance company is not one you have contracted with?
BY YOUR SIDE will require payment from you before services are rendered. We will provide you with all necessary codes for you to pursue reimbursement from your insurance company. Amount of reimbursement will vary by company.
Q. Can a child anywhere on the spectrum, including significant behaviors, attend BYS?
Yes, we are equipped to handle children with moderate to severe behaviors. BY YOUR SIDE employs a behavior consultant to continually work with staff to train in the area of behavior responses and prevention. The center is designed to accommodate challenging behaviors by providing matted safety corners in each room and a quiet sensory room to cool down. We understand and respect the relationship between communication and behavior for children with autism. A primary focus of our therapy is to provide communication skills to replace inappropriate coping strategies and behaviors. It is important to us that services are available to all children and not limited because of their behaviors. Please note that termination of services may be considered if behaviors extend beyond our area of expertise and/or become a danger to self or others.
Q. Can I determine how many hours and days per week my child should be attending the center?
Our staff will conduct an evaluation of your child and the team which includes the parents will determine the most appropriate programming and frequency. A scheduling request for specific days and times will be completed by the parents and BY YOUR SIDE will make every effort to accommodate the schedule. However, some adjustments may be required due to staff availability and therapy schedules.
Q. Do you believe that group speech therapy or individual speech therapy is more effective for my child?
We believe that the most effective therapy is a combination of individual and group therapy. It is important to provide individual therapy to teach specific skills and knowledge sets and then provide group therapy to apply learned skills. There are learning benefits in both settings and both are necessary for development of speech, language and communication skills.
Q. What is the minimum length of time that I can enroll my child?
Clients must commit to a minimum of 3 months. It is important that quarterly commitments are made to provide an efficient amount of time to progress through a therapy plan. Although 3 months is the minimum; 6 months to 1 year commitments are recommended to effectively focus and master therapy goals. Longer commitments will ensure retaining your preferred time and day therapy slots.
Q. Are you closed for holiday and summer breaks?
We are closed on all observed major holidays, with the inclusion of Christmas Eve. We will be open during all other times of the year including holiday and summer breaks observed by schools. Therapy times can be scheduled accordingly to accommodate changes during those times.
Q. I noticed from your hours of operation that you are open on Saturday as well?
That is correct. We are one of the few facilities that will be offering programs on Saturdays as well. BY YOUR SIDE is open from 8 am – 7 pm Monday-Saturday.
